John R. Frechette: Attorney at Law

Family Law

For more than 40 years, I have practiced Family Law. This field includes: marriage; divorce; legal separation; property settlements; adoption; paternity; custody; child support; and grandparents’ rights.

Domestic Relations Mediator

I am a Certified Domestic Relations Mediator. As such, I can help people resolve their disputes by agreement, instead of going to court. These disputes usually involve property settlement, child custody, and child support. As a mediator, I am a neutral – I cannot represent either party, nor can I give legal advice. But I can help you turn disagreement into agreement, within the framework of the law.

Wills, Estates, and Probate

Wills, Estates, and Probate include: Drafting of Wills, Trust Agreements, Living Wills (a declaration that you do not want to receive medical treatment under certain Picture conditions that you choose), Health Care Powers of Attorney, and general or special powers of attorney. Probate is the process of having a Court oversee the administration of a deceased person’s estate to ensure that the administration complies with the law.

My real estate practice includes the sale or lease of residential land. It may include the drafting of purchase agreements, deeds, disclosures, land contracts, leases, and other documents that are necessary for your transaction. Often, the verification of the legal description is required to ensure that you are getting the land you want.

In addition, my practice includes general contract matters. Contracts are private agreements that are legally enforceable. I also represent clients in lawsuits.
